Daniel 6 verses 20 through 22.
Daniel chapter 6 verses 20 through 22.
The title of the message this morning is, Can your God deliver you?
Can your God deliver you?
Last week we read where Daniel was sentenced to death by the Medo-Persian Empire.
And he was cast into a den of lions for praying to God.
We also saw that Daniel being cast into this den of lions was what I described as a latent fingerprint of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament.
It was something that vividly described and identified the coming Savior.
But it was something that could not be noticed until the New Testament came.
And then when the New Testament came, It was like fingerprint dust.
And you take the New Testament and you dust it across the Old Testament and then it brings it out.
Physical evidence that could not be seen beforehand that testified of the Christ who would come in the future. giving us rock solid evidence that Jesus is the Christ that Daniel prophesied would come. in the later chapters of this book.
And we're going to I'm telling you, it's going to be wonderful.
When we get into the later chapters, you're going to see some amazing things about the coming Savior.
But right now, we understand that it was Daniel being cast in that lion's den was a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
And God was giving us amazing testimony of who the Christ would be.
And this morning, by God's grace, we're not only going to be assured of Jesus' identity, From this story.
We're going to be assured of the coming Savior's power to save. us from our sins and from every other problem that sin has caused in this world, by the way, as we expound the 20th through the 22nd verses of this chapter.
But for context's sake, We'll begin by reading in verse 17 this morning.
So let's look in verse 17 now.
It says, And a stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den.
You might as well say upon the mouth of the grave.
And the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords, that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
Remember last week we learned that Daniel's lion's den was a picture of Jesus' tomb, and there was that stone being rolled over the opening of that tomb.
Just as a stone was rolled over Jesus' tomb.
And not only that, but the stone was sealed by the governmental authorities.
Just as Jesus' stone was sealed by the authorities of his day, hoping to ensure that neither Daniel nor Jesus would get out of there alive.
King Darius, who loved Daniel very much, had gotten himself into a legal quagmire.
We learned that in the past few weeks, though he did not know Daniel's God.
However, he did believe that God would deliver Daniel from this lion's den.
So, being absolutely sick over the matter, he had to.
Send Daniel to the lion's den because of the legal mess he got himself in.
After he sealed the tomb closed, the Bible says in verse 18, look with me now in verse 18.
Then the king went to his palace. and passed the night fasting, neither were instruments of music brought before him, and his sleep went from him Then the king arose very early in the morning, remember, just like they rose early in the morning to go check on Jesus to him, and went in haste.
Unto the den of lions.
He ran to that lion's den to see if God had, in fact, delivered Daniel from those hungry lions.
Now we get into our new verse this morning, verse 20.
And when he came To the den.
That is, when he came to the place of Daniel's supposed death, they roll back that stone for the king.
And, look in your text, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel.
Lamentable meaning he was very sorry for what he had done, sorry for the situation that had taken place.
And now you may be wondering.
If those lions are still alive and he rolls back, they roll back at stone, what's to keep those lions from coming out and getting them?
Well, you have to understand the lion's den was a pit.
And in the Chaldean word here, you're not looking at a an empty tomb like Jesus empty tomb where you roll the stone back and you just walk in.
This was a pit.
So the lions are down in the pit.
And when Daniel gets tossed into the pit, he goes down into that pit.
With those lines, the lines can't get out.
And the reason I'm telling you that is because it's going to be important for you to understand here in just a moment.
That this den, this grave, was a pit.
So Look now, the king hollers down that pit into Daniel with a sorrowful voice.
Look back in your text.
And the king spake and said to Daniel, hoping he's alive.
He's looking down in that dark pit.
He's hollering at Daniel.
He says, Look in your text.
Oh, Daniel, servant of the living God.
Is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
And he listens for Daniel's response.
This is the question, however, that every person should be asking themselves today.
This is the question that I am asking you today.
Is the God you serve able to deliver you from the inevitable sentence Of death that you will face one day?
That's the question.
Because one day you're going to face your time to die.
So can the God you serve overcome that death?
To the religious athletes We were watching a sporting event the other night, and Tammy and I were.
And you know what the athletes do?
They bow down and pray and do this right here.
You watch all kinds of sporting events.
And you'll see them do that.
Get down and they'll pray.
And they'll, I just want to thank God.
I want to thank God for helping us win this ballgame.
I want to give Him all the credit and all the glory.
Well, what if you have a Christian on the other team?
And he's praying for God.
What happens?
Let me tell you, God doesn't care about that football game.
He doesn't care about that.
But what happens is people take the God of the Bible a lot of times and they'll turn them from the God that Resides between the cherubim and to the football god, or the basketball god, or the fighting god, or whatever sport they're trying to play.
But the question is.
When it comes, your time to die.
Because you're not going to care anything about sports, I assure you.
When you're on your deathbed, you won't care anything about sports.
You won't care anything about fishing.
You won't care anything about any of your hobbies.
You won't care about your social life.
You won't be caring about what goes on at work.
You won't be caring about anything else.
All you're going to be caring about is surviving the experience that has come upon you.
In this chapter, in these verses in the book of Daniel, assure us that, yes.
Our God is able to deliver us from the lions.
The first thing I want us to see this morning are the words, O Daniel.
The king says, Oh, Daniel.
You see, the king called Daniel by name when he asked him this question.
And God is calling you by name this morning, asking you this question.
This question was not directed to a crowd of bystanders, it was a personal question.
And so it is for you.
If you're reading along with us this morning, God wants you to know.
That he is able to deliver you from the grave.
He wants you to consider the fact.
Of your pending death and put your trust in His power to save you.
Salvation is personal faith in Christ.
It is something that nobody else can do for you.
And let me tell you, death is something that nobody else can go through on your behalf.
Nobody could go in that lion's den for Daniel.
In nobody, Jesus died for our sins.
He took our condemnation, but we still have to die.
The thing is, because he took our condemnation, we don't die in our sins.
We die in His victory.
We die in His forgiveness.
We die with the hope of being raised from the grave.
But each and every one of us are going to have to die personally.
And if you're a child, your mom and your dad, they can weep over you, they can pray, they can pay the doctor's bills, but they can't die with you and they can't die for you.
Every one of us are going to have to go through that.
Nobody's looking forward to it, but we're all going to have to go through it.
And as we go through death personally, That personal death needs a personal deliverance.
You see?
We need a personal Savior.
That means God calls us by name.
He says, Oh Daniel, is your God able to deliver you?
He says, Oh Natalie, is your God able to deliver you?
Oh, Larry, is your God able to deliver you?
That's what he's saying.
Death, the lion's den, if you will, is a personal experience.
That nobody can go through on your behalf.
1 Samuel 3, verse 10 says, And the Lord came.
Now, this is when God called Samuel.
Samuel was a boy, Samuel did not know the Lord, but listen to how God called Samuel.
For the first time.
And the LORD came and stood and called, as at other times, Samuel, Samuel.
Then Samuel answered, Speak, for thy servant heareth.
God called Samuel by name.
As an individual, and God calls each and every one of us by name as individuals.
When God referenced calling Israel out of Egypt, He said, I called thee by name.
And to give you the assurance that he loves you personally and will keep his word to you.
What a terrible thing it would be if we spent our entire lives praying.
Telling others about Jesus, putting tithes in the offering plate, following God's word, only to find out when it came our time to die.
That we're going to be overcome by death just like everybody else.
And it's the end of the story.
Well, fear not, Christian.
Because the God you serve continually is able to deliver you from the lion's den.
Now, remember, I told you before that the Chaldean word for the lion's den means a pit.
A pit.
The Chaldean word here for den means a pit.
And when Daniel was thrown into that pit, God was showing us that we individually We'll go down into the pit one day.
We will go down into the grave one day, for that's what that line's pit represents.
Psalm, if you're writing in your margin of your Bible, write down Psalm 88, verses 3 through 4, or if you're taking notes, Psalm 88, 3 through 4, listen to what the psalmist said.
For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draweth nigh unto the say that word with me, the grave.
I am counted with them that go down into the pit.
I am as a man that hath no strength.
So the pit and the grave are synonymous.
He gets thrown down into that pit, and the scripture considers a pit a grave.
So when God delivered Daniel from the lion's pit, He was showing us that he can and he will deliver us from the grave.
God let the politicians seal that stone.
To keep Daniel from getting out.
You know why?
Because that seal represented the power of that Medo-Persian Empire.
It represented the authority, the power, the strength of the greatest military might on earth at that time.
And he let them seal that stone to keep Daniel from getting out, to show us that God has power over every enemy that stands against us.
The children of God, including sin, the power of Satan, and the power of death.
Ephesians chapter 6, verse 12 says.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world.
God delivered Daniel from From his grave, and God delivered Jesus from his grave to assure us that he can deliver us from the power of death.
When that seal got stamped on there, it represented all the authority, all the power of the world to stand against us and keep us in that grave.
And when God delivered them out, it showed His overcoming triumphant.
Power through Jesus Christ to overrule their power.
Psalm 49:15.
This is not in the slides, Brother Rick.
But God gave it to me this morning.
I had to study a little more this morning, brother Freck came.
Brother, this song, this song popped in my head, and I'm like, I got to share it with him.
Watch this now.
Psalm 49, 15.
Listen, but God will redeem my soul from the power the grave.
Isn't that beautiful?
For he shall receive me.
See lie.
So here the psalmist says, God is going to redeem my soul from the power of the pit.
What does that mean?
The psalmist was telling us that the grave has authority.
The grave has power.
And so when we go down into that grave, the power of sin, Satan, and death seal our tombs.
There's something powerful that has held all of your loved ones in their graves all these years.
Started off maybe, like a lot of people, starts off with your grandparents, your aunts, your uncles.
Unfortunately, some parents die early.
Maybe your parents died early.
Maybe your children died before you, but all of us have lost loved ones.
And we've seen others lost loved ones if we're young.
And there's something powerful that sucks the life out of them and then takes them down to that grave and it holds them there.
And all of us could go out to a cemetery right now, we could join hand in hand.
Muster up all the power we could, all of the mental experience and knowledge that we have, all the strength that we have, and none of us. could ransom them from the power of that grave.
It's powerful.
So when the psalmist said the Lord's going to ransom me from the power of the grave he's recognizing the authority and the power that death has.
The seal on that grave.
That was the power when King Darius sealed that tomb.
That pit that Daniel was in, that was the the power that had to be overcome to get Daniel out.
When the Roman government sealed the tomb of Jesus, that was the power that had to be overcome to get Jesus out.
And it was overcome.
It was the same power that got Daniel out, that guy, Jesus out, that's going to get us out.
The Lord will ransom me.
Let me read that to you again.
Redeem me.
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave.
How does God have power?
Over the power of the grave.
What is that power that God has that overpowers the power of the grave?
He said he will redeem my soul from the power of the grave.
It's redemption.
And the Bible says that we have been redeemed by the blood of Christ.
That is the overcoming power.
The death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, and that's what's prefigured here in the book of Daniel.
Listen to this: Hebrews chapter 2. chapter 2 verses 14 and 15.
Hebrews chapter 2 verses 14 and 15.
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood.
In other words, when I was born as my mom and dad's child, I took their flesh and blood on me.
I look like my mama.
I look like my daddy.
I took their flesh and blood on me.
I inherited the good things, I inherited the bad things, DNA-wise, right?
So, for as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he that is Jesus.
Also, himself likewise took part of the same.
He took on flesh and blood too.
Why?
That through death He might destroy him that had said with me, the power of death.
That is the devil.
Through Jesus' death, he could redeem our souls from the power of the grave.
Our God is able to deliver us from Satan's power of death.
Now, how does God deliver us from that power?
We're going to see that here in Daniel this morning.
The psalmist says, He'll redeem my soul from the power of the grave.
There was power on that tomb that Daniel was in.
It would have been sealed by the king's power.
How could God overcome that power?
How can He overcome our power?
How could He overcome the power of the grave that held David or the psalmist down?
How does God deliver us from this power?
Look with me now in Daniel. 6 verses 21 and 22.
Then said Daniel unto the king, Now Daniel's alive, he's answering back.
O king, live forever.
My God has sent his angel.
Now, if you don't mind marking your Bible, underscore these words, my God has sent his angel.
Now listen, what was the question?
Daniel, is your God able to deliver you from the lion's den?
Is your God able to deliver you from the pit that you were put in, from the stone that got rolled over this grave, from the seal that we put on it?
Is your God able to deliver you from This and he says, King, my God sent his angel.
Folks, that's all you need to know.
How does God redeem us?
From the power of the grave by sending his angel.
By sending his angel.
Let me think, Brother Richard, what does that mean by sending his angel?
He says, My God, look in verse 22, has sent his angel and hath shut the lion's mouth.
That they have not hurt me, forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me, and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
Now, God delivers us.
By sending his angel.
You got that?
God ransoms us, God redeems us, God delivers us from the power of the pit.
From the power of the grave by sending his angel.
This is what we see here in the book of Daniel.
And that angel is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Say, Brother Richard, Jesus wasn't an angel.
He was a Son of God.
Jesus Christ.
Is an angel of God.
And we're going to learn that here in just a moment.
Now, Jesus is the Son of God.
What we have to understand is, and you'll get confused if you don't understand the scriptures.
There are created angels, and there is the creator angel.
You understand?
There is the angel that creates.
There are the angels that are created.
Now, there are heavenly angels that are created.
They're the ones that have the wings and things like that you see about in the Bible.
There are earthly angels that God created.
Do you know that in the book of the Revelation When Jesus sent letters to the pastors of the local churches, do you know what Jesus called those pastors?
Anyone remember?
Angels.
He called them angels.
He called us angels.
The word angel means sent.
Someone who is sent out, someone who is dispatched.
And so, an angel is a messenger of God that's sent out.
And as I am taking God's word this morning, and I'm teaching you the scriptures.
I am an angel of God, for God has called me to take His word and give it to you.
And now here's Daniel.
Daniel, is your God able to deliver you?
King, my God sent his angel.
Not one of his angels, not an angel, he sent his angel.
And that's very important.
This angel is the Lord Jesus Christ in the book of Daniel.
Who delivered Daniel from this pit?
God the Son.
The angel of the Lord has the power in only the angel of the Lord.
Has the power to redeem us from the grave because only He took on Himself flesh and blood.
That through death he might destroy him that has the power of death.
You see?
So, this is a specific angel here.
This is God's angel.
Now, When we teach in the Genesis to Jesus class next door and we get to the creation of man, we learn something very special about man.
We learned something about God before we ever learned something about man.
When we learn about God in the Genesis to Jesus class, we learned that God is a Trinity.
Three persons.
That makes up one God: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.
Not three gods, but three persons.
That makes up one God.
And then, when we get to the creation of man, we learn that God made us in His image.
Unlike the animals that are two parts, body and soul.
Unlike the plants that are one part, they just have a body.
They have no soul.
They have no mind, emotion, or will.
We learned that man is three parts like God.
As God is three persons that make up one God, Man is three parts that make up one person.
I have a body.
I have a soul.
Deep down inside the centermost part, I have a spirit.
But you know what?
Are you listening to my mind, a motion, and a will right now?
Yes.
But how are you listening to it?
Through my body, my voice, my tongue, my speech, my hand gestures.
My body is that part of me by which the inner man is manifested to you.
The angel of the Lord is that person of the Godhead by which the invisible God is manifested to us.
Anytime you see an appearance of God in the Old Testament or the New Testament, it is always the angel of the Lord that you're seeing.
So when I say the angel of the Lord, when he says God sent his angel, it'd be the same as me saying I sent my body.
The only difference is I'm three parts, I'm not three persons.
So I can't send my body without the rest of it going with it.
But God is three persons that make up one God.
It was in the Old Testament when you see Moses He's out there feeding the flock, and he sees a burning bush.
That bush is on fire, and he goes to look at it.
Next thing you know.
God's talking to him out of that bush.
You know what that fire was?
That was Jesus.
That was Jesus.
Anytime you got Joshua in the Old Testament, he's about to go in to fight Jericho, and there's a man that shows up.
And he says same thing to Joshua that that flame said to Moses, you're on holy ground, take your shoes off.
You had Jacob wrestling with an angel in the Old Testament.
Ask an angel to bless him.
That was the angel of the Lord.
That's Jesus.
Anytime you see God manifested, it is always the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the angel, or God, who is God's angel, God's means of manifesting Himself.
That's why when Jesus is here on earth, He said, No man hath seen God, that inner part, at any time.
Just what Jesus said.
He said, The Son of God.
Hath declared him, or he's manifested him.
All right, now that we got that out of the way, he says, The Lord has sent his angel.
So, an angel is one sent from God, and in that sense, Jesus, though he is God the Son, he is also the angel of the Lord, for he was sent by God the Father to deliver us from our sins.
Now I want you to watch how this marvelous truth unfolds for us as we start to wrap up these verses.
Do you remember again when Moses went and stood before the burning bush?
Look now in Exodus 3.
2 And you're going to see for sure what I'm telling you.
I'm not just going to tell you this.
I'm going to show you in Scripture.
Exodus chapter 3, verse 2.
And the, say it with me, angel of the Lord appeared unto him.
Isn't that neat?
In a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush, and he looked, that is, he looked at the fire.
And behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
Now you may be thinking, but Brother Richard That wasn't the Lord in that flame of fire appearing to Moses.
It was just the angel of the Lord appearing to Moses.
Maybe Moses heard the voice of God, but then he just saw that angel appearing as fire, and that wasn't God.
No, sir.
Moses heard.
And Moses saw the Lord who manifested himself through Christ, the angel of the Lord, in that burning bush.
Anytime, again, God appears to man, he does so through his angel, God the Son.
Just as anytime I appear, To man, I do so through my physical body, which is my outward man.
Now, make no mistake, the angel of the Lord is God, and Moses both heard and saw him in that capacity.
This is confirmed by what the angel of the Lord said.
In the burning bush to Moses, and what Moses did in response to seeing the angel of the Lord.
Look now at Exodus chapter 3, verse 6.
Moreover, he said, that is, the angel of the Lord said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
Watch now, and Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look.
Look upon, set with me, God.
My God has sent his angel The angel that was in the lion's den with Daniel is the same angel that Moses stood before and didn't want to look at.
Same angel in that flame that stood before Moses and said, I'm going to get my people out of Egypt.
It's the same angel that got his servant Daniel out of that lion's den.
It's that same angel that came down for us to get us.
Out of the grave, too, to redeem us from the power of that grave.
Now, when King Darius asked Daniel if his God was able to deliver him, Daniel said, My God has sent his angel.
Now, what do we learn from this?
We learn that God delivers His people by sending His angel, Jesus.
That's it.
God sent his angel Jesus to deliver Daniel.
And God sent his angel Jesus to deliver you.
Now listen now, Gospel of John chapter 8.
Gospel of John chapter 8.
Remember, angel means sent out, dispatch.
My God sent His angel.
In the Gospel of John chapter 8, Jesus said over and over again that he was sent by God.
Being sent by God, he is an angel of the Lord.
You see?
Just as a pastor is, just as a heavenly angel is, Jesus.
That God the Son, being sent by God the Father, was an angel of the Lord.
He said over and over in John 8 that he was sent by God.
Jesus was the same angel of the Lord sent by God to deliver us from our sins, that God sent to deliver Daniel from the lions, and after telling the people over and over again that God sent him numerous times, Jesus then encounters a blind man.
Now, God had that blind man there for a reason.
And that blind man, like Daniel, guess what he needed?
He needed to be delivered from something.
You see?
He needed to be delivered from his sins.
That was for sure.
But the obvious part to everyone around Was that he needed to be delivered from the darkness that he was in?
Because he was blind.
So, in John chapter 9, verses 4 and 5, Jesus, the angel of the Lord.
Told everyone, look in John 9, 4, and 5: I must work the works of him.
Here he is again that sent me.
While it is day, the night cometh when no man can work.
Now, why is Jesus saying that?
Because here is a man in front of him that's in darkness.
Complete darkness.
And Jesus tells him one last time: I have to work the works of him that sent me.
I'm an angel of God.
God sent me on this errand.
I have to do his work while it's day because the night comes when no man can work.
Now, watch what he does.
Verse 5, as long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Now, if Jesus is the light of the world, Then he can give this man light and sitting in darkness.
You see?
In other words, I am just what this blind man needs.
I was sent.
To be the light of life for those living in the death of darkness.
It was dark in that pit when Daniel was in there.
It's dark in the grave.
Do you know I read a story once, it's supposed to be a true story, of a little boy who died early, and he was afraid to go to the grave because it'd be dark, and he was scared of the dark.
And they say that.
That his daddy had a pole put down in that grave with a little window, so there'd be light going down for his son.
Well, let me tell you, Jesus is the lie of the world.
But he says, I was sent to be the light of life for those living in the death of darkness.
Now, watch John 9:6.
When Jesus had thus spoken, when he said that, he spat on the ground and made clay of the spittle, takes the spit and mixes it up with the dirt on the ground.
Smeared it on the blind man's eyes.
Now, why would Jesus do something like that to that blind man?
Why would He make a mess on that blind man's eyes?
Why would He rub this on His eyes?
Why not do as He's done so many times?
Many times and just say, Thy faith has saved thee.
Open your eyes and see.
Or maybe put his hands over his eyes and pronounce him.
Able to see, or something like that.
Because he did that many times with people.
This is the only time we read in the Bible where he makes mud out of spit and puts it on his eyes.
He did that because before that man can see, Brother Ugl, can you see with mud rubbed in your eyes?
I can't.
Neither could that blind man.
Even if Jesus healed that blind man, before he could see, he'd have to wash that mud out of his eyes.
Now Jesus is going to make a powerful point here that he is the angel of the Lord.
Now you watch.
John 9, 7, and said unto him, this is after he washed I mean, I'm sorry, after he smeared the mud in his eyes, John 9, 7, and said unto him, Go wash in the pool of Solom.
Which is by interpretation, say that word with me, sent.
You see that?
There was a pool of water over there.
He takes mud and puts it in that man's eyes.
The word salone means sent.
The translator just left it the same and then explained to us the translated word.
It means sent.
So for those people alive at that time, He says, go wash in the pool of sin.
He just got through telling them, God has sent me.
I'm the one God sent.
I have to do the work of him that sent me.
You better believe he sent me.
And finally, he takes that blind man.
He says, I'm the lie of the world.
He rubs mud in his eyes.
He said, You go washing that pool over there called Scent.
Guess what happens?
It says, He went his way, therefore, and washed and came singing.
Jesus was telling that blind man, he is the angel of the Lord.
He is the same angel that appeared to Moses and delivered Israel from Egypt.
He is the same angel that appeared to Daniel and delivered him from the lions, and the same angel that appeared.
To us 2,000 years ago to deliver us from our sins.
He said, Go wash in the pool of sin.
Now, you know what happens?
There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins.
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.
Did you know That the Old Testament, Brother Rick, I wish I'd have thought of that this morning, I'd have had that included in there too.
The Old Testament, God tells the Jews.
That he's going to open up a fountain of cleansing for them in the future.
A fountain that will cleanse them from their sins.
Now there is a fountain for us that we can wash and be clean, that we can wash and see, that we can wash and be delivered from the darkness of death and sin and the power of the grave.
Do you know what that fountain is for us?
It's the same fountain, the fountain of sent.
Jesus was the one sent.
The man went to the fountain of sent.
He washed in the fountain of sent, and now he's delivered from his darkness.
When we go to the cross and we believe the record that God sent His Son That through death, his death on the cross, he might deliver us from the power of death.
Our faith, believing the record of whom God sent.
We're washed and made clean.
We're delivered from the power of death by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.
And all that is given to us here in the precious book of Daniel.
Man, let me just go on real quick and I'll finish this up.
When that blind man came seeing, it showed that Jesus was indeed the one God sent into the world.
Now, listen to what the angel of the Lord said when he appeared to Moses.
The same angel that was that burning fire that talked to Moses is the same one that healed that blind man.
Listen to what the angel of the Lord, what Jesus said when he appeared to Moses in Exodus chapter 3, verse 7 and 8.
And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people.
Which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters.
For I know their sorrows.
Read this with me.
And I am come down to deliver them.
Do you see what God's angel does?
This is the characteristic of the angel of God.
He comes down to deliver his people.
That's why you had manna in the Old Testament.
The people were dying of hunger.
That man had to come down to deliver them.
That's why you had the burning bush.
The angel said, I'm come down to deliver my people.
And that's why Jesus in John chapter 6 said that He is the true man that came down from heaven to give life unto the world.
The same angel.
The same deliverance.
He said, I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians.
God saw Israel's affliction.
His angel came down to deliver them.
God saw Daniel's affliction.
His angel came down to deliver God saw our affliction and his angel came down to deliver us.
And if you are on the bubble, Believing the truth, the gospel, the word gospel means good news.
If you're on the bubble believing the good news that God sent Jesus into the world, I pray this will help kick you over that other side, get you off the bubble, and have you finally believe: yes, this is the record.
Of God's Son.
He showed it to us in the Old Testament.
He concealed it in the New Testament.
He opens that Old Testament up and you can see it was Jesus the whole time and he has the power To deliver us from the lion's den.
When I die, and I will, I'm going to go down to that pit.
But you mark my word, one day I'm coming up.
I'm coming back out.
Because my God has power over the grave.
Father, we thank you so much for your precious word.
Oh, God, with what joy.
I can share these precious scriptures with the convincing truth, the rock solid evidence on which we stand.
That you have given us in your word, weaving the truth from Genesis all the way to the book of the Revelation.
Giving us a firm foundation for us to stand on.
And I pray if there have been any listening today that have not believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they too will be able to look up to you.
And say with confidence, my God has sent his angel for me.
