If you're a first-time visitor, we welcome you, and we study God's Word verse by verse. And we have been studying through the book of Daniel. God willing, we'll be expounding mainly on verses 7 and 8, but collectively, so we can keep everything in context, will also be in verse 4. So we'll be verses 4 through 8 this morning. If you want to go ahead and turn to Daniel 3, verse 4, as we'll begin, the title of the mess this morning is Gold. In the holy place, gold in the holy place, the anatomy of false worship. The past several weeks, we have learned so much from God's word through the dream that Nebuchadnezzar had and through the image that he set up. In our verses, last week, Nebuchadnezzar set up a great image that was like the image that he had in his dream. Except it didn't change metals from top to bottom. Remember in Nebuchadnezzar's dream, it went from a head of gold to Chest and arms of silver, and belly and thighs of brass, and legs of iron, and feet of iron and clay. And that signified the changing of world empires over time. And the image that Nebuchadnezzar made did not portray Jesus, who was the stone cut out of the mountain. Remember, a stone. Cut out of the mountain without hands, came and smote the image on the feet and destroyed the entire image. And then that stone became a mountain and had a kingdom that reigned forever. And Jesus is that stone we learned. He's going to come back one day, and the kingdoms of this world shall become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever, the Bible tells us in the book of Revelation. But the image Nebuchadnezzar made, it didn't portray Jesus, the stone cut out of the mountain, smashing the image on the feet, destroying the kingdoms of this world, and bringing God's kingdom here to earth. No, Nebuchadnezzar's image was gold, not just the head. It was gold from top to bottom. Which I believe, as I told you last week, represents the Babylonian Empire in his mind ruling forever. And he wanted the whole world to bow to the image. Of his power and of his kingdom rather than the coming kingdom of Jesus Christ. So he sets this image up and then he summons leaders from all over the world. To come and worship this image. Daniel chapter 3, verse 4: Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages. that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sacbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up. And whoso falleth not down and worshipeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. We told you last week that this is the spirit of Antichrist at work in the Old Testament. Trying to consolidate a one-world government under a one-world false religious system. That's what our forefathers attempted to do way back in the book of Genesis when we saw the first formation of government in the book of Genesis at the Tower of Babel. They set out to build a tower. In Genesis chapter 11, verse 4, the Bible speaking of these. Ancient peoples, our ancestors, it says, And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower whose top may reach into heaven. And let us make a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. Now, God had told them to replenish the earth, to be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. They decided they weren't going to do that. Excuse me. They were going to stay in one place, and they were going to build this great tower, and that tower would have been the center of false worship. There's still towers like that that remain today over in the Middle East. They're called ziggurats. At the top of those towers, they had their sacrifices and their false religious offerings and all going on. So that tower would have been their center of false worship, under which their godless kingdom would have been controlled. Satan in the Garden of Eden, Satan at the Tower of Babel, he will never quit trying to consolidate. World power under a false religious system. I'm going to say it again: Satan will never quit trying to consolidate world power. Under a false religious system. Listen closely to his temptation of Christ, one of his temptations, in Matthew chapter 4, verses 8 and 9. Again, the devil taketh him, that is Jesus, up into an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him what? All the kingdoms of the world. We got a little head there. All the kingdoms of the world, you see. Now, who was Nebuchadnezzar over at this time? It was a world empire. All the kingdoms of the world. That's why he said, All ye nations, peoples, and languages. This was a world empire trying to get set up under a false religious system. And here the devil's trying to do the same again with Jesus. I'll give you all these kingdoms. If you'll just fall down and worship me. So Satan wanted Jesus to be over all the kingdoms of the world, but with him, Satan. At the center of a false religious system. Daniel chapter three reveals to us the anatomy of false worship. Which the devil is the instigator of. The devil is the most religious creature in this world. No matter where you go in this world, as we saw this morning in the Genesis to Jesus class. Or actually, the beginning of the Building on Jesus class. He was looking at the tribal people in Papua New Guinea. And their beliefs and worships of spirits, so-called. And no matter where you go in this world, you're going to find Religious systems. You're going to find religion being practiced. Doesn matter where you go. You go to some little tribe in a village. It doesn't matter. You go to some big country like China, you're going to find religion all over the world. And false religion predominantly. And as we will see in our text this morning, every false religion consists of four things. Number one, false religion consists of divine revelation. Divine revelation, the revelation of God. The true revelation of God. Number two, it consists of demonic perversion. Number three, it consists of human submission. Number four, it consists of hostile division. I'll repeat those to you again. I see people taking notes. False religion consists of four things. This is the anatomy of false religion we're learning this morning. It consists, first of all, of divine revelation. Demonic perversion, human submission, hostile division. Under the influence of Satan, Nebuchadnezzar established a new false religious system with the great image of gold. It was 90 feet tall, remember, the great image of gold being the object Of man's worship. And the first component of that false religion was a divine revelation. The dream that Nebuchadnezzar had received. It began with a divine revelation. God, not man. But God had given Nebuchadnezzar the dream about that image. God, through the prophet Daniel, Had given Nebuchadnezzar the interpretation of that dream. Every false religion begins with divine revelation. The first false religious system, the first false worship of God recorded in the Bible was when Cain offered his faithless offering that God rejected. The Bible says by faith Abel offered a more excellent sacrifice than Cain. Cain would have never had any concept of the need for an offering had it not been revealed to him by God. Both Cain and Abel brought an offering unto God based on divine revelation, but only Abel's was based on divine instruction. You see the difference? Every false religion begins with divine revelation, not just Nebuchadnezzar's in this text. The Bible is the most perfect revelation of God to man, but the world is full of false religions that's based on the true word of God. Think about it. The world is full of false religions. that's based on the true Word of God, Islam. Islam is based on the Bible. There could be no Muslim religion without the Bible. Because it's based on it. It writes about the Bible. Mormonism based on the Bible. Jehovah's Witness, based on the Bible. Catholicism, based on the Bible. Judaism, based on the Bible, the Old Testament portion of it. All Christian denominations based on the Bible. There's a bunch of them. All of these religions began with divine revelation. But something happened. And that's that demonic perversion, you see, which we'll get to next. But the main thing we understand is that every false religion Began with divine revelation. He said, Now, Brother Richard, wait a second, wait a second. You mentioned China a minute ago. They're full of Buddhists, and there's more Chinese people than anybody in the world. And Buddhism's not based on the Bible. I didn't say it was. But it's based on divine revelation. Hinduism based on divine revelation. It's amazing to me. Both Hinduism and Buddhism operate on the principles. Y'all ever heard the word karma? Karma? You know, Christians wrongly use that word karma. They say, well, karma will get him. Man, Christians don't believe in karma. We don't believe in karma, all right? But we understand karma of someone doing something bad. And eventually they're going to get their payback. And they call that karma. Well, karma will get him. And they don't understand when they're mentioning karma, they're talking about the belief. the false religious belief of these these Hinduistic and these Buddhist teachings. But Buddhism and Hinduism operate on the principles of karma, reincarnation, and nirvana. Karma, reincarnation, and nirvana. And let me just kind of give you the concept of it. So if I do good in life, And then I die, my karma will determine what I get reincarnated at the next time, what my life will be like then. I will make mistakes in that life, Brother Doug. I won't make as many mistakes as Brother Doug. Brother Doug's far back on the karma scale. I'm way ahead. And so as I evolve in my person by learning my mistakes over the course of the many, many, many, many, many, many lives that I have in this recycling of me being reincarnated. I ultimately reach a stage of nirvana where I'm perfected and I don't make the same old mistakes anymore. And here I am. I'm all perfect now. I'm all good. Now, no one's ever seen anybody that's reached the state of nirvana. But they say that happens. And so you have karma, reincarnation, and then ultimately through that process of karma and reincarnation. Then you reach the state of Nirvana. All right? So now you think about that just a moment. Do you see If you'll think about it, all of that is nothing but a perversion of the gospel message. That's all it is. Karma is the judgment you get. Reincarnation is the mercy you get. Nirvana is the salvation you get. And whatever you believe is in control, because something's got to figure out. Brother Doug has been bad, we need to give him this much karma. He needs to come back as a spider instead of a grasshopper. And, Brother Shepherd, he's lived better. He needs to come back as a cow and not a toad. Someone's got to keep up with us. Something has to. Someone's going to have to make a list and check it twice to know how to keep this process going to ultimately push to nirvana. In whatever it is that you believe as a Buddhist or a Hindu is in control of all that. That's your God. So now you have a God that offers judgment, tempered with mercy, who ultimately will give you salvation. And so there's this natural yearning for in all those millions of people, there's this yearning. For salvation, and there's the acknowledgment of their need for it. They understand that they're sinners. All false religion begins with divine revelation. The divine revelation of God's judgment, mercy, and salvation is simply chains to the lies of nature's karma, reincarnation, and nirvana. Every false religion begins with changing the truth of God into a lie. Which brings us to our next point: demonic perversion. Demonic perversion. Like a lot of politicians today, the devil has an unholy lust for power, and he doesn't care how many people he destroys. to get that power. He wants to be God so badly. And one of the ways he receives his illegitimate power here on earth, in his glory from man here on earth, is by changing the truth of God Into a false religion. Have you ever given much thought to the word Antichrist? The word Antichrist means against Christ and instead of Christ. It opposes Jesus and replaces Jesus. And an Antichrist cannot exist without a true Christ. The purpose of the devil's spirit of Antichrist is to oppose and replace the kingdom of Jesus Christ. Nebuchadnezzar changed the truth of the image of God that God showed him in the dream. He changed it into a 90-foot-tall golden lie that he built in the sky. The Bible is the truth of God revealed to man. So, how did we get so many opposing concepts of Christianity that have spun into so many different and opposing denominations of Christianity? Very simple. Demonic perversion. It's that simple. We can say that we can all join hands together under the name of Christianity, but it doesn't work that way. There's a reason there's different denominations. There's a reason there's different beliefs. And that's because Satan has changed the truth of God into a lie. That's why the Apostle Paul. Before the ink was ever dried on all of the New Testament writings, said, Though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which ye have received, let him be accursed. Why was he having to write that? Why was he having to tell the Galatian church, who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth? It's because the devil was already changing the truth of God into a lie. It's sad, but there are too many denominations of so-called Christianity for us to name. Demonic perversion. You'd think that the devil would spend his time denying God. He works his hardest at distorting God. Nebuchadnezzar's religion began with the divine revelation of God's Son, the stone that came down and became the great kingdom. But it was changed to the lie of Nebuchadnezzar's image. Speaking of the originators of false religion, the Apostle Paul said in Romans chapter 1, verse 25, that they are those, quote, Who changed the truth of God into a lie and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator who is blessed forever. Amen. Nebuchadnezzar's dream was divine revelation. Nebuchadnezzar's image was demonic perversion, but worshiping that image was, and that brings us to our third point, Human submission. Human submission. In the spirit of Antichrist, Nebuchadnezzar compelled the world to worship the God He made when He played that worship music. Daniel chapter 3, verse 7. Daniel chapter 3, verse 7. Therefore, at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, Flute, harp, sacbut, psaltery, and all kinds of music, all the people, the nations, and the languages fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. The people of the world were being threatened. They said, You worship this image, you're going to be cast into a burning fiery furnace if you don't fall in line and worship. This global religion that we've established. So, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sack, but psaltery, and all kinds of music. All the people, the nations, and the languages fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. When Nebuchadnezzar fell before Daniel in Daniel chapter 2, you remember that? Daniel revealed the dream to Nebuchadnezzar, and Nebuchadnezzar was greatly troubled because of the dream. When Daniel revealed that dream to Nebuchadnezzar and Nebuchadnezzar, who was the head of gold in the dream, remember? He fell down and worshiped Daniel. That was gold on the ground. When Nebuchadnezzar, then in his pride, built a 90-foot-tall image, now all made of gold. That was gold in the sky. But when these people bowed down to that image, that was gold in the holy place. See how that worked? Nebuchadnezzar went from the ground now to a sky, and then when he, through that image of the ruler of that empire, receives worship. Now you have gold in the holy place. And that's the human heart, right where the devil wants to be. When God breathed the breath of life into Adam's nostrils, the Holy Spirit of God moved into Adam. Adam was God's first temple. We know, we've learned in our study of the Old Testament that the tabernacle and the temple, which was the permanent structure of a tabernacle. That tabernacle represented a man, the man Christ Jesus, his sacrifice. Everything, but at the center in the most holy place of that tabernacle was God dwelling in that most holy place on the basis of the blood that was shed. Outside the tabernacle. Adam was God's first temple to dwell in. And then, when the light went out, the life went out. The Spirit of God went out. And I've told you before that the gospel is not about. Getting man out of earth into heaven, but getting the God of heaven back into man. We were made to be a temple. What does the Bible say? Know ye not that ye are what? Temple of God. In the most holy place is that most inner man, our spirit. Jesus said, God is spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. And so now here was gold in the holy place. You ever wondered when Jesus was here on earth, where were those devils wanting to be at? They want to be in people. In people. Adam was God's first temple on earth, and the devil and his fallen angels had sought to inhabit men ever since. Satan wants to be God. Satan wants to be worshipped. Satan wants to dwell in the heart of man. Speaking of the time when the stone in Nebuchadnezzar's dream Comes back to destroy Satan's kingdom represented by that image when he smites it on the feet. Speaking of the time when the stone comes back to do that, the Apostle Paul said in 2 Thessalonians 2, verses 3 and 4: He said, Let no man deceive you by any means. For that day shall not come, the day when Christ comes back to smite the image on the feet. And become the great eternal kingdom here on earth, he says that day shall not come except there come a falling away first. That's the first thing that has to happen: falling away. And that man of sin be revealed. You see that? That's the next thing that has to happen. The man of sin has to be revealed. Who is the man of sin? He's called the Son of Perdition. Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God. Now, what's happening here? Hang on here. This is going to get serious. I better get my pointer out, brother, Brother Neil. All right. Who exalteth himself above all that is called God, first he opposes, then he exalts himself above all that is called God. Remember what we learned about the word Antichrist? To oppose and replace. Remember? So he opposes Christ because Christ is God manifest to us. And then he exalts himself above all that is called God. So he will oppose Christ as King of kings and lord of lords, that he might attempt to replace Christ. As King of Kings and Lord of Lords. So he opposes this man of sin, must be revealed before the stone comes back to smite the image on the feet, before Christ comes back to take control of this world. The man of sin is going to be revealed. He's the one who's going to oppose and exalt himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he, as God, What's he going to do? Where's he going to go? He's going to sit in the temple of God, doing what? Showing himself that he is God. That's what this is all about. We're studying here in the book of Daniel. Gold on the ground became gold in the sky, and now the moment man worshiped that image, it becomes gold in the human heart. And that's how coming the book of the Revelation: that man of sin is going to have this great image built and give life. It's going to be able to move and speak. and compel the world to worship this image that was set up. And that will be the devil in the human heart. He's going to attempt to get into the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Jesus will not come back until the devil comes out of the shadows to seek worship. From the world. 2 Thessalonians 2, verse 7 and 8. Listen to what the Apostle Paul said. 2 Thessalonians 2, verses 7 and 8. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work. Now, what is the mystery of iniquity? That is that spirit of Antichrist that was at work here in the book of Daniel. When you see this one-world government, attempting to operate and consolidate under the just one world false religion with this golden image set up, that's the mystery of iniquity. The reason it's called a mystery Is because the one behind all of that has not yet been revealed. When you see the word mystery in the Bible, it doesn't mean it's going to have an attective to come investigate it. What it means is, it's something that's at work, but it's not yet understood, it's not yet revealed, it's not yet known. And so when we're looking at this in the Old Testament, that's the mystery of iniquity already at work. You see Nebuchadnezzar? You see the image? You see the people getting cast into the burning fiery furnace. But you know who you don't see? You don't see the devil. No one would have thought about the devil. Why? He's hiding in the shadows, receiving worship through the images. See, who was behind Nebuchadnezzar in his false kingdom? The devil was. When the image receives worship, remember what we learned about an image? It's a physical representation of a spiritual truth. That image represented Nebuchadnezzar's desire to be king over the world and for his kingdom to reign forever. That's what Jesus is going to do. It's the Spirit of Antichrist. So when the image receives worship, the man behind the image receives worship, and then here's the man behind the man. And that's the man of sin, the son of perdition, who opposes God and exalts himself above all that is called God. And before Jesus comes back, he's going to be revealed. It'll no longer be a mystery. He's going to step out of the shadows, is what the Apostle Paul is saying. He says, Look again, 2 Thessalonians 2, 7, and 8. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work. It's already at work now, it's been at work for all these ages. Think about the Garden of Eden. It was the devil that came and tempted our parents in the Garden of Eden. But did they see the devil? They saw the serpent. They saw the serpent who was more subtle than any beast of the field, which the Lord God had made. It was a mystery of iniquity at work. But one day the devil won't be hiding behind a snake. He won't be hiding behind an image. He's going to come out of the shadows and he'll be called the man of sin. Satan personified, if you would. When Jesus was here, he said, If you have seen me, you've seen my father. When the man of sin is here, he'll be able to, If you've seen me, you've seen my father. We've seen angels all in the Bible who come down as men. Satan's going to come out of the shadows. Again. Look here, verses 7 and 8: For the mystery of iniquity doth already work, only he who now letteth will let until he be taken out of the way. Now, That word letteth, and this is why I am not a staunch person on the King James, because you've got to go back and explain, because that word letteth doesn't mean letteth anymore. The word lettuce there, if you were to go back and look at the word let in an Old English dictionary. You will find that it actually means the opposite of what we would say today. The word let me mean to hinder, to hinder. But somehow through the changing, the evolution of language, okay, the evolution of language, it somehow now is allow. But back then, and in the Greek, this word translated letteth it means hinder, not allow. So only he who now hinders, and if you'll think of it this way, it has a sense of hindering, it means to hold back. The devil's not holding something back. He is holding himself back. He's staying behind the curtains. So, the mystery of iniquity now works. Only he who now holds back himself back behind the curtains will continue to hold himself back behind the curtains until he be taken out of the way, and literally that means until he comes out. Out of the midst. He's going to remain behind the seams as a mystery until he steps out as a man. See how that works? And then, verse 8, shall that wicked be revealed? He'll no longer be a mystery. He'll now be revealed as a man whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming. When he destroys him with the brightness of his coming, what is that? That is the stone smiting the image. On the feet, and all of Satan's endeavors to steal this world and subvert worship and power from God. In an instant, we'll be gone. Praise God, I'm looking forward to that time. I am so looking forward to that time. Satan's been hiding behind the scenes, but before Jesus comes, he's going to come out of the midst and be revealed to the world as a man of sin. And like Nebuchadnezzar's fiery furnace, the devil and the end of times, he's going to threaten to terminate people's access to the The world economy. The Bible says if they don't take the mark of his image, they're going to be cut off from the world economy. They won't be able to buy or sell, the Bible says in the book of Revelation. They have to subscribe to his unholy kingdom. But Nebuchadnezzar could threaten and kill all he wanted to. This is why we call it human submission. When they fell down and they worshiped that image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up, he could threaten them all he wanted to. But you cannot force a single soul to worship an image. Can't do it. Satan can do the same in the end of time, but he won't be able to force anyone to take his mark and join his kingdom. Worship is a matter of free will that God has given man. When all these people fell down and worshiped that image, it was a matter of human submission. Our devotion to God can be tested by the threat of death, but it cannot be terminated by it. That's how come the apostles were slain for their testimony, and many other believers over in the Roman Coliseum. We're fed to lions and slain for their testimony. That's why we have brethren overseas in the African continent, in the Middle East, who are slain to this day for their faith in Jesus Christ. You can test the faith of the child of God, but you cannot terminate the faith of the child of God through death. All false worship begins with divine revelation. It is changed by demonic perversion. It is embraced by human submission, and finally it ends, our last point, with hostile division. Hostile division. That brings us to the accusation. Look with me in verse 8. Wherefore, at that time, certain Chaldeans came near and accused the Jews. What does the Bible say the devil is? He's the accuser of the brethren. This Chaldean word translated accused here, there's actually two Chaldean words translated accused. It literally means they ate the Jews by taking small bites out of them. That's literally what it means. Now, that's it's a figure of speech, of course. You ever heard someone say, That person ate me out? This is exactly what's happening here. They're using their words when they attempt to devour, to consume, to destroy these people, these believers in Christ. Those who belong to Satan's kingdom stand in opposition to God's kingdom, and they want to devour us. Have you ever noticed how homosexuals and women's livers hate Christianity? But then they cheer the Muslim nations who would destroy both of them. They'd kill them if they had the chance. How can people who think so differently, such as Muslims and homosexuals, stand in solidarity against Christianity? Only one reason, and that is they belong to the same ungodly kingdom. The mystery of iniquity that doth already now work. So they fight to oppose Jesus, our King. Listen to this excerpt that I read. This weekend from the Quran, which a Muslim shared on a Fox News post Friday night. This will bless your hearts. I love reading from the Quran. Very encouraging. Quote: Indeed, those who disbelieve in our verses, we will drive them into a fire. Every time their skins are roasted through, we will replace them with other skins so they may taste the punishment. Indeed, Allah is evermighty and wise. Well, drive us into a fire because we don't accept the Quran. Kind of reminds you of the burning fiery furnace, doesn't it? Hostile opposition. God put enmity between his people and Satan's people a long time ago back in the Garden of Eden. He said, I will put enmity between thee and the woman, between thy seed and her seed. Why? Because light has no fellowship with darkness. When the Apostle Paul stood before the governor Felix, The Jews told Felix in Acts 24, verse 5: For we have found this man a pestilent fellow and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world. And a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes. No, that's us. They're calling it the sect of the Nazarenes, those who follow Jesus of Nazareth. They were accusing him. Years ago, Catholics were slaughtering Christians who did not believe the truth that the Catholics had changed into a lie. Today, Muslims are slaughtering Christians who do not believe the truth that they have changed into a lie. Today, Hindus and Buddhists also persecute Christians. In the East, Asian country of Burma, which is also known as Myanmar. Buddhists have used fines, imprisonment, starvation, gang rape and child abuse to oppress Christians. Oh, yes, those that dress in the little orange outfits and go, yeah, man, there is no peace when it comes to the mystery of iniquity. They may look all peaceful, but I'll tell you what, there's no peace. Because of the truth, we seek their salvation. Because of false religion, they seek our destruction. So in chapter three, now we have learned the anatomy of false religion as we close. Divine revelation. Demonic perversion, human submission, and hostile division. One day, Jesus, the stone, is going to come back. He's going to do a little division of his own. He's going to separate the wheat from the chaff. The Bible says there'll be two grinding at the mill. One will be taken, the other will be left. Thank God those who troubled the Christians will receive the tribulation of Christ. And those who were troubled will be delivered by him, because they believed on his name. Father, we thank you so much, Lord. Thank you, Father God, that you've taught us about the mystery of iniquity. Lord, we know one day, Father God, as Jesus was revealed from heaven. The devil, Father, Lord, will be revealed, Father. He'll try to oppose, he'll try to replace, but ultimately, Father, he'll be destroyed. We look forward to that day when our Savior and King comes. And we pray in the meantime, dear Lord God, that we'll be faithful to your kingdom. We pray, Lord, you'll continue to teach us in your word. Show us, Father, your truth here in the book of Daniel. Thank you for encouraging our hearts, dear Lord God. Thank you for giving us a kingdom. That's on its way, that will never end, that can never be overcome, wherein dwells righteousness. In Jesus our King's precious name we pray. Amen.
